About the Author
Dear future
innkeepers,
It has been
several decades since I researched and wrote the first edition of How
to Open and Operate a Bed & Breakfast, now in its 9th edition.
I am a writer and editor who got involved with
bed and breakfast when it was an emerging industry back in the 1980s.
At that time, I was the Director of the Traveler's Information
Exchange, which published travel information, including many reports
from those who enjoyed staying at B&Bs abroad. As I received
more and more inquiries from people in North America who wanted to
become innkeepers but didn't know where to begin, I decided to fill the
need for a business book on this subject.
This ever
evolving book is the product of the combined knowledge, experience, and
advice of hundreds of B&B hosts, managers of reservation
service agencies, B&B consultants, business professionals, and
guests who enjoy B&B hospitality. Their wisdom offers a
valuable guide to new or aspiring innkeepers.
I wish you the
best of luck on your journey.
Warmest
regards,
Jan Stankus, Author
